Our Story

A testament to the unchanging ministry of Jesus Christ since 1874

From 1874 to Today

In 1874 the first religious group in Berthoud was formed: The United Brethren Congregation. This organization consisted of members gathering together in their homes and other meeting places for their religious practices. In 1904, the United Brethren Congregation purchased land to build the Berthoud Church.

The church did not become part of the Foursquare Church organization until 1956 after it was purchased by the English Foursquare Church from the United Brethren Congregation.

After the English congregation closed the church in 1962, Carrie McCormick — the woman whose family helped fund and build the church — generously funded its reopening in 1965 for the Spanish congregation. The church was pastored by many leaders until 1989, when Pastor Steve Salazar took over.

Pastor Steve's father, Pedro, had been a pastor and member of the congregation for seven years. Pastor Steve served faithfully for 34 years until he was called home to the Lord on December 28th, 2023.

Today, the Berthoud Foursquare Church is led by Pastor Stevie Salazar Jr., ordained in 2024. This historical landmark remains active as a testament to the unchanging ministry of Jesus Christ and His four scriptural roles: Savior, Baptizer With the Holy Spirit, Healer, and Soon-Coming King.

What We Believe

We are a bible-based, Spirit-filled Christian church declaring the four scriptural roles of Jesus Christ — roles reflected in our name and logo — guided by the unchanging truth of Hebrews 13:8.

Savior

Jesus Christ saves us from sin, offering eternal life to all who believe.

Baptizer with the Holy Spirit

Jesus fills believers with the power of the Holy Spirit for victorious living.

Healer

Jesus heals — body, mind, and spirit — through His compassion and power.

Soon-Coming King

Jesus will return in glory to establish His eternal kingdom.
